Volunteer Guardianship Program

The Volunteer Guardianship Program (VGP) provides court appointed health-care decision makers for low income elders and adults with disabilities who have no family or friends who can help them and they lack the capacity to make decisions for themselves. The referrals come from nursing facilities, hospitals and group homes generally through their social workers and case managers. We work with the probates courts to match these low income Rhode Island residents with caring volunteer guardians, when they are needed. To refer someone to this program, click here.
