OHA Announces Changes to the At HOME Cost Share Program Published on Tuesday, April 05, 2022 RI Office of Healthy Aging Announces Changes to its At HOME Cost Share Program CRANSTON, R.I. – The RI Office of Healthy Aging (OHA) announced today that recent changes have been made to the home and community based, At HOME Cost Share Program which subsidizes the cost of in-home and adult day health services for non-Medicaid eligible Rhode Islanders. Changes to the program include expanded eligibility to persons with income up to 250% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL), and added population of individuals aged 19-64 with a medically documented diagnosis of Alzheimer’s Disease or related dementia. Program participants must meet eligibility guidelines. These key changes come into effect today, April 5th, 2022. The At HOME Cost Share Program was established as an option for Rhode Islanders that do not qualify for Medicaid. The program provides supportive care services, based on income eligibility to individuals with home care and/or adult day needs. Through this program, the State pays a portion of these services while program participants share in the cost. “Home and community-based services are an essential resource for countless families across the State. For many years people with disabilities and older adults have struggled to access the supports they need to live at home,” said OHA Interim Director Michelle Szylin. “With expanded access to the At HOME Cost Share Program, more Rhode Islanders can now take advantage of this resource affording them the opportunity remain at home and achieve maximum independence and quality of life.” The At HOME Cost Share program helps individuals afford home- and community-based support services, assisting them to maintain independence while enhancing their health and safety at home and in their communities. Eligible in-home services may include assistance with housekeeping, personal care, and/or meal preparation. Adult-day services offer a wealth of daytime opportunities and services for participants – including assistance with personal care, meals, and various recreational and social activities. All At HOME Cost Share participants receive a comprehensive assessment and tailored care planning services free of charge.
